Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an umbrella term for a range of talking therapies that focus on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and actions. CBT is evidence-based and the most trusted therapy in the world. It is the therapy of choice in the NHS.
Therapy is a confidential space for you to talk and explore what's happening for you. In therapy, we explore situations in the present to understand how our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes positively or negatively influence our feelings and behaviour. Working together, we seek to reduce distress, increase awareness and choices and help you to feel safe, connected and empowered to fully engage in life.
We work to understand you and the background to the issues you're facing. We'll set goals and agree ways of working. It's a partnership. We'll focus on practical, actionable steps you can take to improve your quality of life and your enjoyment of life, healing and moving forward. Our aim in therapy is to equip you with skills to become your own therapist, to be able to support yourself to move forward and flourish.
The mind doesn't work in isolation from the body but in concert with it. Research tells us that diet, exercise, sleep and social connection can all influence our mental states. In forming a treatment plan, we'll consider all of these elements and where helpful we can connect you with other specialist providers to complement your therapy.
